Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)
Wyandotte County families and neighborhoods are being devastated by the foreclosure crisis. As recently as September 2010, Wyandotte County had the highest foreclosure rate in the state (Source: Realtytrac). The foreclosed homes often remain vacant, deteriorating over long periods of time, thus inviting crime and contributing to blight in the area.
Through a program entitled NSP, CHWC and the Unified Government are giving individuals and families the opportunity to realize their dream of owning a home that would otherwise sit vacant.
NSP was established in 2008 under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA). HERA appropriated $3.92 billion in NSP funding to communities nationwide. A first round of funding (NSP-1) was distributed in late 2008 on a formula basis to local governments and states.
Throughout 2010, CHWC has been participating in NSP, having acquired and rehabbed more than 20 homes in the area. This work continues in 2011.

These basic packages are included in the sales price. Additional upgrades can also be included for an additional cost.
