Am working with Associated Youth Services to provide a photographic project for their current class. If you don’t know about Associated Youth Services they are a great group of individuals that work hard to provide opportunities for young people that find themselves in very difficult situations; in some cases because of their own bad decision making and sometimes because of things outside of their control. I have always found that some form of creativity endeavor generally seems to reach them in some way. Lets be honest teenagers can have bad attitudes just like the rest of us. They can be hard to engage – again just like the rest of us when someone is selling something we aren’t interested in. I think Art classes of all kinds allow another path of expression. Another way of looking at things maybe even a chance to not think for awhile – to relax and to just feel. I think Art can have that same effect on those more “Mature” attitudes us adults sometimes find ourselves in.
