In 1999, CHWC constructed 13 new single-family for sale homes as part of an infill revitalization project in the St. Joseph’s / St. Benedict’s neighborhood. Each home was built with the assistance of local HOME funds, and property tax abatements were offered to the homeowners as incentives.
CHWC partnered with the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas to develop the St. Benedict’s Elementary School site. The elementary school was demolished and the land is currently being used by CHWC to construct 20 new single-family homes and by the Archdiocese to construct a small monastery to house the Little Brothers of the Lamb (now complete).
