PLEASE NOTE: To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, EPIC Clay Studio has implemented new precautions. The studio has been rearranged to allow for more space between students. We ask participants to wear masks while in the studio and to wash their hands often in between projects. For kids classes, please limit the adults in attendance to one per family and only bring the children participating in the class. EPIC staff members have the right to limit the number of participants in open studio to accommodate social distancing guidelines.
EPIC Clay Studio is a community studio located in the Strawberry Hill Neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas. The mission is to provide the youth of the community opportunities to experience dynamic arts and culture programs that foster community, emotional intelligence and healthy relationships.
EPIC was created to house a clay studio for community members, particularly those who find art as their only means of expression. In 2010, local nonprofits came together to help renovate and cover utility costs for the building, making it possible for dozens of volunteers to convert an old vacant storefront into an art space.
The studio offers classes to local schools, seniors, and teenagers in the community. EPIC exists to increase arts accessibility to kids, particularly kids with disabilities, but also to seniors, to adults, and to kids with economically at-risk backgrounds.
Through projects like EPIC, individuals become vested in tangible projects and an intangible sense of community pride is created.
